Clear Code Reader Privacy Policy
Summary: Clear Code Reader processes QR codes, barcodes, selected images, and generated content on your device. It uses Firebase Analytics for limited, content-free usage and app-install campaign measurement. When our Analytics property is linked to Google Ads, limited Analytics information may be used to measure and improve campaign performance. Scan content, source images, history, and generated content are never included. The App contains no advertising SDK and disables Advertising ID collection and ad personalization.
FSD HOLDINGS LLC, publishing on Google Play under the developer name FSD Core ("we", "us", or "our"), provides the Clear Code Reader Android application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use the App, contact support, or visit this policy website.
1. Information processed on your device
The App can process the following information locally:
- Camera frames while live scanning is active.
- An image you explicitly select through the Android system picker.
- Text or an image you explicitly share to the App.
- Decoded QR or barcode content and its detected type.
- Up to 50 recent scan results when local history is enabled.
- Preferences such as vibration, history, language, and analytics settings.
- Content you enter to generate a QR code.
This processing happens on your device. The App does not upload camera frames, selected source images, scan content, scan history, or generated codes. Camera frames and selected source images are not retained by the App after processing. Limited analytics information is handled separately as described in Section 5.
2. Local storage, retention, and deletion
Scan history and preferences remain in the App's private storage until you clear them, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. Turning history off prevents new entries but does not automatically remove existing entries. Use the App's Clear history command to remove them.
Generated QR images are saved only after you choose Save. Depending on your Android version, the image is saved to the device Pictures collection or a destination you select through the system file picker. Saved images remain until you delete them with your gallery or file manager. Uninstalling the App may not remove files saved outside the App's private storage.
The App does not create user accounts, so there is no account deletion process. Android backup and device transfer are disabled for the App's private data.
3. Permissions and system access
- Camera: requested only for live code scanning.
- Vibration: used for optional scan-success feedback.
Image import, local history, QR creation, and privacy information remain available without camera permission. The current release does not request advertising ID, broad photo library, contacts, calendar, phone, SMS, precise location, microphone, or notification permissions. Internet and network-state access are used only to deliver the optional analytics described below. Websites are opened separately by the browser after you explicitly choose an external action.
4. External actions
The App never opens a decoded destination automatically. If you explicitly choose an action such as Open link, Share, Email, Message, Call, Map, Add contact, Add event, or Open Wi-Fi settings, Android transfers the selected content to the external application you choose. The receiving application's privacy policy then applies. We do not receive information about what the external application does.
5. Analytics, advertising, and third-party code
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand feature adoption, diagnose user-flow issues, measure installation and activation, evaluate app-install campaign performance, and improve the App. Firebase Analytics may process:
- App interactions, such as screens viewed, permission outcomes, scan source, detected content category, result actions, and QR generation or save outcomes.
- App and device metadata, including App version, operating system, device model, language, network connection type, and session information.
- An App-instance or Firebase installation identifier and approximate region derived from network information.
Analytics events use fixed categories and never include decoded values, URLs, email addresses, phone numbers, messages, Wi-Fi details, contacts, calendar content, source images, scan history, generated content, clipboard data, file names, or file paths.
To understand which app-install campaigns lead to installations and useful feature activity, our Google Analytics property may be linked to our Google Ads account. When linked, Google Ads campaign information may be available in Analytics, and limited Analytics information may be made available to Google Ads for campaign measurement and optimization. This may include App interactions, App-instance or installation identifiers, App and device metadata, and approximate region. It never includes camera frames, selected images, decoded or generated content, scan history, contact information, or other content entered by the user.
Usage analytics is enabled by default. You may disable or re-enable it at any time under Settings > Usage analytics. Disabling it stops future analytics collection from the App and resets locally stored Analytics data and the App-instance identifier. Clearing App storage or uninstalling also removes the local analytics preference and App installation state. Previously processed aggregate data may remain according to our configured Google Analytics retention settings and legal obligations.
We disable Advertising ID collection, AdServices permissions, and personalized advertising signals. The App contains no advertising SDK, attribution SDK, crash-reporting SDK, remote configuration SDK, or account service. We do not sell App data or use Analytics information for personalized advertising. Google processes Analytics and campaign-measurement information under the Google Privacy Policy and applicable Google Analytics for Firebase and Google Ads terms.
The App also includes ZXing Core for on-device code processing and Material Symbols for interface icons. These open-source components run as part of the App and are not configured to transmit scan information to their authors. Their license notices are available inside the App.
6. Support communications
If you email us, we process the email address, message content, and any attachments you choose to send only to respond, troubleshoot, protect our rights, or comply with legal obligations. Email providers may process this information to deliver the communication. We retain support correspondence only as reasonably necessary for those purposes and do not sell it. You may request deletion of support correspondence by contacting us, subject to legal or security retention requirements.
7. Privacy website hosting
This public privacy website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit the website, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser or user-agent details, requested URL, timestamps, and security signals to deliver and protect the page. We do not enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, advertising, cookies, forms, or other tracking scripts on this website. Cloudflare handles information under its Privacy Policy.
Website hosting activity is separate from the App. The App itself does not contact this website or Cloudflare in the background.
8. Security
The App minimizes data by processing scan and generated content locally, restricting analytics to fixed non-content categories, encrypting analytics data in transit through Firebase, and disabling Android backup for private App data. No device, network, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure, so keep your device and operating system protected.
9. Children's privacy
The App is a general-purpose code utility and is not designed specifically for children. It does not knowingly collect scan content or personal information from children. Google Play distribution is configured for an adult target audience. If you believe personal information has been provided to us through a support communication, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App's behavior, legal requirements, or platform requirements change. We will publish the revised policy at the same public URL and update the effective date. Any future in-App advertising, advertising or attribution SDK, account, additional analytics, or cloud feature will require an updated policy and Google Play disclosure before release.
